Black Lives Matter: It’s Time To Take Action

Read our message >

Hi. Welcome to the next edition of the People’s Law School. Today I want to talk about what happens if you’re injured at work. Whether your hand is injured in a machine or you’re injured on a construction site, there are many laws that will help you. And there are two things to keep in mind. Number one, if you’re injured at work, you’re entitled to workers compensation coverage. That’s coverage that will pay for medical bills and wage loss because of your work-related injury. And then, there’s something call a third-party case, where you might be able to sue someone that caused your work-related injury. For example, if you’re injured at work as a result of something that a general contractor did on a construction site or as a result of a machine that did not have a guard on it, then you can sue the machine manufacturer or the general contractor for your pain and suffering, your disability and impairment, your wage loss, and all the things you can no longer do. That’s going to be a lot bigger than your workers compensation benefits.

So there is an interplay between the two that we’ll be happy to explain to you, should you ever be involved in a work-related accident. And remember that any consultation with us is free, no obligation, and we’ve been doing this for 43 years so by now, we’ve pretty much figured out. We know what we’re doing. So we’ll be happy to help you. Hope that you never need us, but if you do, we’re here. So we’ll see you next time on the People’s Law School. Until that time, thanks very much for watching.
