Takata Airbags Under Recall

Takata Airbags Under Recall

“Tens of millions of vehicles with Takata airbags are under recall. Long-term exposure to high heat and humidity can cause these airbags to explode when deployed. Such explosions have caused injuries and deaths. NHTSA urges vehicle owners to take a few simple steps to protect themselves and others from this very serious threat to safety.” – NHTSA

Takata Airbag Resolution Fund Established

The Bankruptcy Court has confirmed the reorganization of Takata Corporation’s U.S. Unit creating the go-ahead for the Takata Airbag Individual Restitution Fund.

All people injured in vehicles, regardless of vehicle maker can collect from the Takata Airbag Individual Restitution Fund if the vehicle had a defective Takata airbag and they otherwise qualify under the plan. Personal injury claims are now being accepted for review. Individuals harmed by the defective airbags may receive compensation despite the severity of the injury.

Takata airbags were found to have a deadly flaw when airbag inflators using ammonium nitrate began exploding and pushing shrapnel into the passenger compartments with lethal force. By November 2017, roughly 34 million vehicles had been recalled as a result of this danger.
