Hi, and welcome to the next edition of The People’s Law School. Today’s class is going to deal with the topic of dog bites. It seems funny, why are lawyers involved in dog bit cases? What we’ve seen is we’ve seen some real tragic incidents where children and adults have suffered some severe injuries as a result of getting bitten by a dog. There is a way that you can be compensated for that. Hopefully, the owner of the dog has homeowner’s insurance. That homeowner’s policy will help pay for the damages for the harms that you sustained as a result of being bitten. That can include compensation for pain and suffering, or disfigurement.
We’ve seen cases where there’s horrible permanent scarring. All of that can be covered by the dog owner’s insurance company. We have experience handling these cases. We would like to talk to you should you or a loved one ever have the unfortunate situation of being bitten by a dog. If you are a homeowner, keep in mind that … make sure that your own homeowner’s policy covers dog bites, because some insurance companies are getting smart now and they’re taking out of the … of your policy. Make sure that the kind of dog you have is covered by the homeowner’s insurance policy that you have.
Until next time, hopefully you and your loved ones will never be bitten by a dog, but if you are, we’re here to help you. Thanks very much.
